Race Overview
The action was exciting and the weather could not have been better for this years White Oak Challenge at Watters Smith State Park.
The 7 mile race course was indeed a challenge to each and every one of the 95 racers to make the start.
Leading the Mens Expert from the start line was Steve Hill plowing his way through every climb and switchback, averaging lap times around 44 minutes. His closest competitor was Joey Riddle rocking out the single speed, only 5 minutes back, thats some serious pedal pounding.
In the Womens Expert Class Betsy Shogren cruised out front all day with average lap times of 53 minutes. Placing second was Mandi Riddle rocking out the RIGID single speed, now thats impressive.
With a great course layout, great prizes, and a bunch of great people who we were all glad to see again, I would have to say that the White Oak Challenge is one of the best races in the series, and we hope to see it get even better every year.
Thanks to all who participated and volunteered, and a special thanks to Scott Frame for all his endless hard work in designing an awesome race for the series.
